Air System Improvements
So, my air compressor system had a lot of water in it. Even adding a water separator, barely made a difference. This is partly due to the fact that the compressor sits outside and this place is bloody humid, all the time. And, partly due to the fact that the water separator was sitting right at the compressor as it came out of the tank.
My neighbor Jon and I have been talking about doing some painting on our cars and we had to get rid of the water. In doing research on painting our cars, I found a video on YouTube where a guy had built a pipe system for his compressor, where the pipe had an uphill run and water could fall back into a trap and be relieved with a valve. The whole thing was made of black steel pipe and as much water as we get in our system, I was thinking I just didn't even want to begin to deal with rusty water in my paint, too...
So, today Jon and I went to Lowes, bought some stuff and built a system. I'm rather fond of my water traps. I think it's a very elegant solution, compared to the under sink style water traps that black pipe boy used...
After I put this together, I went out and did some serious work with the die cutter. About 20 minutes worth. Which normally would have been spitting water all over me within 5 min.
No water on me. No visible drops shooting out. Checked the end water trap, no water in there. The Water separator had just a little moisture in it and the first water trap had enough water in it so that it bounced off my hand and got my face wet with the splash.
