Independance Day Weekend
No sailing Saturday as I re-torqued the head bolts following our little engine issue during the June 23 race. Waiting 24 hrs for permatex gasket to cure, then on the 4th we go sailing with Bryan, Susan, Bryan and Carl Twigg. Excellent weather, very much looking forward to sailing with the Twiggs, again.
What a great day for a sail! Wind was about 18 kts out of the South, South East and pretty steady all day. With the women and kids aboard, we just put up a full main and went sailing. The run down river was very comfortable at 5.5 kts. The beat back up river while slower was just as comfortable. What a delight!
Bryan Jr. did most of the helm work today with Bryan Sr. and Carl taking a turn as well.
What an excellent day for a sail.
The fireworks themselves were cut short. A half dozen or so of those big starbursts went off in their mortars. Three workers were injured and the show, halted. Word is, the workers are going to be okay.
