Just returned from the single best sailing trip I have ever taken. Four Days of sailing out of five and the only day there wasn't 15 kts or better was the one day I did not sail. It just doesn't get any better than that.
Few ESSA Sailors make the trip from Cambridge, any more. And that's a shame. Because it is one of the truly great traditional Eastern Shore festivals and it has not been "discovered" by the touristas. And the last few years, it has gotten better, every year. This year, there were 12 skipjacks in the harbor, Sunday Night. They had a gospel concert on Saturday followed by some home spun blues and then all day sunday and into the evening, there was live music. I didn't even need to go ashore. I just puttered on my boat and watched and listened to the event. It is not something one gets to do every day. To have an opportunity for a free day long live concert from the comfort of your boat. And the quality of the bands has been improving, too. I figure here on the shore, any time you can recognize the tune being played, they aren't half bad.
Simply the best cruise opportunity on the bay, being missed by a lot of my friends and that is truly a shame.
But it was good to see, dine and party with those of you who made it.
Many thanks to our friends Keith and Betsy Henry who joined me for the adventure and provided stimulating and interesting conversation.
