Rub Rail Repair

2011.11.05

Went out on the Nanticoke and Broad Creek with Neill Carey, today. Unfortunately, we smacked into a dock hard enough to splinter the rub rail. So, it is repair time. Good thing, I guess. The rub rail had been pulling away from the gunnel for some time, already. I had been meaning to get it properly thru-bolted, but kept putting it off.

Luckily, it was just split and I was able to epoxy it back together. Adding a layer of fiberglass tape, made it even stronger. And, when attaching it back to the boat, I thru-bolted it this time. Getting up inside the nose of that little boat is a royal pain in the butt, but it's a good feeling now that it is done.
