Runabout Transom Tearout

2008.05.26

So, the transom is sopping wet. When I removed the outboard and peeled back the inner layer of glass, water ran down the transom and into the bottom of the boat where a few ounces pooled up... sigh. Being limited in tools here in my Wisconsin apartment garage, I am trying to preserve the outer skin of the transom. So, using a Stanley wonder bar, I proceeded to begin chipping away at the wet and soggy wood, bringing it as close as I could to the outer glass skin.

The good news is that the outer skin still has a pretty good grip on the old wet wood. The inner skin though, just peels back.

We're having all kinds of fun, now...
