But, seeing as it was a spectacular sailing day with 14 kts of wind, temps in mid-high 50s and bright sunshine, the work sort of got done in stages...
With Bruce's boat moved and secured, it was time for a sail. John Motsko had arrived, so off we went on The Write Byte for a 3 hr cruise.
We even took time to do one last Man Overboard Drill for the year, to keep our skills sharp. Okay, so my Hemisphere Dancer Hat that Bruce gave me commemorating the 03 trip we made up the ICW together went overboard with a gust of wind...
I'm happy to report that we retreived the man overboard successfully, UNDER SAIL, WITHOUT EVEN STARTING THE ENGINE. And, we had been making 6.5 kts at the time the hat went overboard. We maintained sight of the hat, handled the sail, turned around and snagged it through awe inspiring teamwork and skill! Good Work, Fellas!
Back in the new slip, it took about an hour to secure lines, but things are looking good and secure and not a minute too soon. It gets bloody cold when that sun drops near the trees.
Back at home, the boy who would rather have gone too, waits to greet his Dad.
