The Wharf Rats
As is true in many marinas, the majority of the boats in our particular marina sit idle, even on weekends. If you use your boat, and if you love boating and hang out at the marina, because there just isn't any place you'd rather be, you soon get to know and become more or less friends with others of similar ilk. These are the wharf rats who can't understand why the rest of these people even bothered to buy a boat, if they aren't going to use it. I'm one of those people. Aside from working and spending time with my family, Sailing is my life. So, I've become acquainted with a few of the other Wharf Rats at our particular marina.
Two years ago, after an excellent summer of sailing, partying and just enjoying our boats and each other's company, we decided to have a pig roast to celebrate a great sailing season's end.
That started a tradition and last year the process repeated itself with another great party. This year, we decided to deep fry turkeys instead of roast a pig. And it went over great, we look forward to many more turkey fry parties in the future!
