Sailing The Write Byte
Keith Henry and Bryan Twigg joined me aboard The Write Byte Saturday, May 6, for a quick jaunt to LaTrappe Creek in a Fresh breeze.
We were lucky too. As the wind was dying when we pulled into Martin Cove. After a peaceful night at anchor, we departed bright and early, shortly after 0730, arriving at the mouth of the Choptank around 1130, a full hour and a half before the race even started. So, we sailed up by Herring Bay to watch the parade of sail coming out of Herring Bay. Then, we sailed back and forth across the bay for a while with them. But, it was getting crowded up there, so we sailed back down by the mouth of the Choptank to gain a little sea room.
After getting nervous about whether we would be able to stick around long enough to see them, we called Paul West. Paul Assured us they should be to the Choptank before 1700 and about 1630, we spotted them on the horizon. What a grand and glorious sight! We got in close, got some nice pictures and had a grand sail home. It doesn't get much better than that.
